Notorious double killer Malcolm MacArthur has pleaded for a new identity -- just weeks before he is due to be released permanently.
In an extraordinary interview with the Herald MacArthur said: "I'm trying to start a new life."
"There are certain establishments I like to frequent that I don't wish to be known in, and I'm afraid now I have to hide my identity when I'm around and that worries me."
MacArthur murdered nurse Bridie Gargan in the Phoenix Park 29 years ago and shot dead Offaly farmer Donal Dunne with his own shotgun.
He returned to jail after spending the weekend in Dun Laoghaire, prior to his December release.
