Kenny to meet Merkel

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny is in Germany this morning for his first official visit to the country and a meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Mr Kenny will go directly to the Chancellor's office, where he will brief her on the pace of Ireland's economic recovery. The pair will also discuss the latest developments in the eurozone and other key issues on the current EU agenda.

Trade between Germany and Ireland increased significantly last year while investment and tourism links have also strengthened.

Mr Kenny's schedule also includes an address to the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and attendance at an Irish-German business event.
