Kenny jets to Brussels for euro crunch talks

TAOISEACH Enda Kenny jets to Brussels this morning for a two-day meeting of EU leaders.

Europe Minister Lucinda Creighton said the priority for the Government will be to highlight the need for investment funds.

"It is a question for us to help others to understand the need for more immediate and radical steps to be taken," she said.

The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, and French president Francois Hollande have already agreed on the need for a €130bn compact for growth.

The Taoiseach told the Dail that the country won't default after earlier reiterating his view that Ireland's bank debt burden should be shared at a European level.
