Joy as luxury spa holds on to top award title

ONE of Ireland's top luxury hotels has scooped a leading award for the second year running.

And glamorous hotelier Marie Chawke is over the moon after Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa was honoured for Best Service for the second year running at the Irish Tatler Spa Awards.

"We're over the moon and it's an extra special award because it's honours all of our staff. It means a lot, especially in today's climate when it's even more important to maintain excellent standards of service," she said.

"We'll have to up our standards even more for next year to try and retain the title."

The luxurious five-star Killarney hotel is a favourite among Ireland's rich and famous, with regular VIP guests including Grainne Seoige and Padraig Harrington.

The judging panel agreed that service is an integral part of any spa experience and The Spa at the Heights was deemed to have met these requirements to the highest standard.

"Within the spa itself, the staff are mannerly, well-presented and approachable, while the therapists are committed to ensuring each relaxation area include the delivery of a freshly made smoothie of the day, fruit and water and a welcoming atmosphere inviting you to enjoy the thermal suite for the duration of your stay," said the Tatler judges.

Meanwhile, the Wineport Lodge in Athlone picked up the gong for Best Customer Service in Leinster at the recent Irish Restaurant Awards. The hotel is located on the edge of Ireland's peaceful inland waterways in Glasson, Co Westmeath.
