Jolie visits hospital to support Haiti victims

Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has visited Haitian earthquake victims in a Dominican Republic hospital.

The actress was accompanied by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, a representative of the UN. High Commissioner for Refugees. Jolie is a goodwill ambassador for the UN refugee agency.

Hospital spokesman Dario Manon said: "She spoke with several children and a Haitian woman who recognised her and requested help."

Jolie is facing her own battle in a legal action against a British newspaper which reported the celebrity couple was going to split, a lawyer acting on their behalf confirmed last night

Jolie and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have begun legal proceedings against the News of The World.

He said the newspaper had made "false and intrusive allegations" when it reported on January 24 that Pitt and Jolie had agreed to separate, to divide assets worth £205m (€234m) and had made plans regarding the custody of their six children.

British law places the burden of proof on the publisher.
