MEET the councillor who has refused to claim expenses for the past 13 years.
Labour's John Gallagher, of Dublin South Central Ward, tells council bosses every year that he is waiving his expenses.
Speaking to the Herald, Mr Gallagher said he represents many people "at the bottom of the ladder", and therefore wants to live as modestly as possible.
"I don't broadcast the fact that I don't claim expenses. It's a decision I've stuck with over the years and it's one I believe in personally. I feel I have independence as a community worker when I don't claim expenses.
Mr Gallagher told the Herald that he cycles to work and spends most of the day in the community centre close to The Coombe.
