Job vacancies up 6pc

THE number of professional job opportunities has increased by 6pc this year, according to the Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor.

There were 23,167 jobs in the third quarter of last year and this figure jumped to 24,631.

However, the overall figure was down 2pc on the 25,112 jobs that were available in quarter two.

Karen O'Flaherty, chief operations officer with Morgan McKinley, said that it appears the jobs market is positive.

"Reviewing job opportunities across an entire quarter provides us with greater insight into trends across the professional jobs market and also how it is faring compared to previous years," she said.
