Jeweller's to reopen

AN ICONIC Grafton Street jewellery shop is due to reopen its doors under new management.

The business premises of West jeweller's on Ireland's most famous shopping street has been sold for almost €5m to renowned traders John Brereton.

West of Grafton Street, on the corner with South Anne Street, was one of the longest established firms in the State, first opening in Capel Street in 1720.

It operated out of its current premises since 1965 but was forced to close last year.

John Brereton's Jewellers is a family-run business established on Capel Street in 1916.

Brothers John and Liam Brereton have been directors for the past 40 years and have expanded the business with further shops on O'Connell Street and Chatham Street.

The vendor was businessman Joe Moran of housebuilders Manor Park Homes.
