Jennifer's silver lining after boot from Strictly

She may have been eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing, but Jennifer Gibney is thrilled not to be busting shapes on the BBC any more.

The Mrs Brown's Boys actress, who is married to Brendan O'Carroll, revealed that she has more time to concentrate on the hit show now that she has been given the boot.

The cast of the show have recently filmed the Christmas specials in Glasglow, which would have meant Jennifer would have had to make several journeys between London and the Scottish capital if she continued to compete.

"I loved being on Strictly and I got to learn to jive, to waltz and to foxtrot," Jennifer said.

"Being voted off meant I had the last two weeks to concentrate on Mrs Brown's Boys, which is really time consuming. So things worked out perfectly.

"I would have been worn out travelling between London and Glasgow if I had been kept in, so every cloud has a silver lining," she added.

Jennifer has become very close to her dance partner Tristan McManus, who hails from Co Wicklow, throughout the series.

"He's like one of the family now. He came to Glasgow and I introduced him to the cast," she said.

Jennifer and her husband returned to Dublin over the weekend but plan to spend the months leading up to Christmas in their Florida holiday home.

The cast and crew will be taking a well-earned break after filming the Christmas specials as they'll be heading off on their world tour in March.

They'll finish next year with six Dublin shows before bringing the tour to Australia and New Zealand.
