Jen proud of hubby Lau as he makes his Emmerdale debut

Broadcaster Jennifer Maguire has been gushing about her husband Lau's appearance in Emmerdale on Tuesday night.

Speaking on Breakfast Republic on 2fm yesterday Jennifer said "well done" to her new hubby.

"Lau was in an episode of Emmerdale last night and he was in the pub and he was on a date with one of the main characters," she said.

"He had his Bristol accent so he was kind of west country, kind of this geeky character. But he said they were lovely.

"One bit of goss from Ememrdale, the beer in the pub is real - when he was chatting to this blonde in the background she was telling him to go easy on the pints they sell in the bar because it's the only thing on set that's real," she revealed.

Tuesday was Lau's only appearance on the soap, but Jennifer said he may feature again in the future. "Yeah, it's kind of left open," she added.

Lau, who wed the Republic of Telly star in July, plays new character Nigel, who was introduced to Vanessa as a possible love interest by Paddy and Rhona.

Looking dapper in a navy blazer, tie and jeans, the English actor's first scene saw him having a pint in the Woolpack with Paddy and Rhona, played by Dominic Brunt and Zoe Henry.

Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) was previously seen having her make-up done at the salon before joining the trio, and Rhona and Paddy quickly make their excuses and leave Vanessa and Nigel alone together.

Vanessa's ex-boyfriend Kirin spotted the pair flirting and left the Woolpack in a huff.

However, Nigel won't be causing too much of a stir as Tuesday's episode was his only appearance in the soap.

Lau has appeared in several short films including Mass, which he wrote and produced, as well as feature film All Is By My Side.

He also worked as a stunt performer in hit TV series Vikings.

The couple got married at Castle Leslie on July 1 and have since revealed that they are expecting their first child next year.
