JCDecaux's Irish losses

The Irish arm of JCDecaux, the global French advertising giant that operates the Dublin Bikes scheme, made a €609,000 operating loss last year, reflecting what it said were "difficult market conditions".

But the firm, whose Irish unit is headed by managing director Joanne Grant (right), still had the financial clout to pay a €5.2m dividend to its parent this year, despite being in the red.

The loss it incurred last year was narrower than the €1.5m the company lost here in 2012.
