Rugby star Tommy Bowe married his girlfriend Lucy Whitehouse in a stunning ceremony last Saturday.

The couple opted to wed in Lucy's native country of Wales, where they first met and where the player proposed.

Tommy (31) and Lucy (27) were introduced by mutual friends in 2011.

He proposed to the former Miss Wales while they were out walking on a beach in Pembrokeshire on Easter Sunday last year.

On the big day the bride wore a stunning strapless gown with a sweet-heart neckline and full satin skirt.

Bowe, who has his own XV Kings clothing range, had joked he would turn up in a burgundy suit but instead he opted for a classic black suit with a pale pink tie.

Welsh band The Soul Miners performed at the reception in luxury Corran Resort and Spa in Laugharne, Carmartenshire and musician Mark Crowley posted a picture of the band with the Ulster star, saying he was a "top bloke". A total of 170 guests, including Irish hooker Rory Best, Wales stars Jonathan Thomas, Huw Bennett, as well as Ian Evans and Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips were in attendance on the day.

The loved-up couple had remained tight lipped about their nuptials over the past few months but Tommy did say they were looking forward to their big day.

"It's going to be a great day out for the two of us and for our family and friends too," Tommy said.

He also said he'd been helping out with the plans.

"You'd probably get two different answers if you asked myself and Lucy. I think she would 100pc say no, I've done nothing," he laughed.

"I try to get involved as much as I can. Probably not to the same amount that Lucy would have liked but listen if I was to get more involved I'd probably have had enough".

Bowe is the latest Irish rugby star to get married, following another high-profile wedding last week.

Munster and Ireland legend Peter Stringer made it official with Debbie O'Leary in Marbella last Tuesday.

The happy couple, who have been together for six years, said 'I do' in the picturesque Nuestra Senora de la Encarnacion church in the Spanish city. Speaking ahead of his wedding, Peter paid tribute about his bride to be.

"It's all about her, I'll try fade into the background as much as I can," he said.
