FORMER IDA chief executive Kieran McGowan has been appointed chairman of Appian Asset Management.

Appian provides investment advice and fund management services to high net worth individuals, charities and companies in relation to approximately €600m.

In a statement, Appian said Mr McGowan was "one of the most experienced business figures in Ireland".

He was chief executive of the IDA from 1990 to 1998 and has served on the boards of a number of other publicly quoted companies. He is a former chairman of CRH and a former non-executive director of Irish Life & Permanent Group and Elan.
