In Brief: Sex 'monster' heads to jail

A BUSINESSMAN described as "an evil monster" will be jailed next month for sexually abusing two children 30 years ago.

The 51-year-old denied the charges at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court and hired a private investigator to look into the lives of the brother and sister victims ahead of his trial.

He has since admitted the abuse and said he wants to compensate the victims by giving them an apartment.

The victims have rejected this offer.

US missile blitz kills terror chief

A US missile attack in Pakistan today has killed a top terrorist commander.

The attack in the South Waziristan tribal area killed Khan Mohammed, also known as Sathai, deputy leader of a group of militants led by Maulvi Nazir, officials said.

The officials said Mohammed was also Nazir's cousin. The strike also killed one of Nazir's brothers, Hazrat Omar. Two others were also killed.

Nazir is one of the most powerful militant commanders in the tribal region and is accused of working with the Taliban and al-Qa'ida to stage attacks against foreign troops in neighbouring Afghanistan.
