In Brief: New children's hospital offer

ANOTHER possible site for the national children's hospital has been offered by a consortium of Dublin landowners.

The 50-acre site at Lissenhal in Swords has been offered to the government- appointed hospital review group. The Broadmeadow Healthcare Group said the site is within 600 acres of land earmarked for future development.

Broadmeadow claims it could build the five/six-storey hospital by 2016 at a price lower than the €650m it would cost at the Mater Hospital site in Dublin.

The review group has now been offered at least 15 sites as well as the Mater location.

Findings published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal showed that certain foods had less salt in the UK than in the US or Canada, such as McDonald's chicken nuggets and some chain-restaurant pizzas.
