In brief: Motorists give loos a panning

CUSTOMERS at petrol station forecourt shops have given the toilets a panning.

Bad lavatory facilities were the number one aggravation for motorists and shoppers at petrol stations. Poor hygiene was the main problem, according to a poll conducted by wholesaler and supplier Palmer and Harvey.

Only 23pc of the 1,000 surveyed said petrol stations were clean and 17pc always found them stocked with toilet rolls, towels and soap.

Frozen chicken hots up in blaze

A truck carrying nearly 40,000lbs of frozen chicken went up in flames on its way to a supermarket in the New York town of Chili.

Fire officials said the truck was hauling chicken from Mississippi to the Wegmans Distribution Centre just south-west of Rochester.

The truck driver was not injured.

London to lose top jobs spot

London is on course to lose its top spot as the world's biggest financial centre by number of jobs.

The number of jobs in financial services in London will be below the number in New York and Hong Kong by 2015.
