In Brief: Kerry rescuers save dolphin

A stranded dolphin has been rescued after being washed up on a remote Kerry beach.

Three families and lifeboat volunteers in Fenit, Co Kerry, joined forces to save the dolphin, which was found by a woman walking her dog.

It is believed the dolphin had swum in at high tide before getting cut off.It was wrapped up, driven to the harbour and then taken out to sea, where it circled the boat.


Child deaths jurors retire

A jury in the trial of a couple accused of killing their six children in a house fire has been sent home for the Easter break.

The jury of seven men and five women retired yesterday afternoon to start its deliberations in the manslaughter trial of Mick and Mairead Philpott, and a third defendant, 46-year-old Paul Mosley.

Mick Philpott (56), his 32-year-old wife, and Mosley, all deny the manslaughter of the six children in the petrol-fuelled blaze at their three-bedroom council house in Allenton, Derby, England, on May 11 last year.


April (5) may never be found

The search for the body of missing Welsh girl April Jones will finish next month after a six-month hunt finally proved fruitless.

April Jones (5) disappeared from the housing estate where she lived in Machynlleth, mid- Wales, on October 1.

Local man Mark Bridger (47) was arrested the day after April's abduction.

He was later charged with abduction and murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Bridger is scheduled to stand trial on April 29.


Netflix signs Matrix couple

Netflix's newest original series will be science-fiction from the duo behind the The Matrix trilogy.

Netflix has announced it will stream Sense8 late next year for subscribers.

The series is the first foray into television for Andy and Lana Wachowski, the filmmaking siblings who directed The Matrix and last year's Cloud Atlas.

Netflix called the 10-episode series "a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted".
