IMF to visit

THE International Monetary Fund (IMF) is due to pay a scheduled visit to Ireland later this month.

The director of the IMF's European department, Marek Belka, said yesterday that the international organisation would be discussing the country's progress "in implementing the programme of adjustment that the Irish authorities initiated some time ago".

When asked if that programme of adjustment has gone far enough, Mr Belka said the IMF was "very glad" with the progress achieved in Ireland so far.
