Dickie Rock is set for a starring role in Grease the Musical.

He isn't letting age get in the way of his love of performing, with news that the 77-year-old will be treading the boards in the iconic musical.

He has been signed up for a cameo performance at Teen Angel, singing Beauty School Dropout in the new production which will run at the Gaiety in November.

III Keith Duffy will be forsaking his usual glamorous hang-outs for the delights of an Irish bog next month. The actor and singer has told organisers of the sixth annual Bog Snorkelling Championships that he hopes to take part in order to raise funds for a cause close to his heart. Taking place at Doohamlet Bog Lake in Co Monaghan on September 13, Keith is set to don his wetsuit for a good cause and take the plunge. All funds he raises will go towards the Irish Autism Association, the charity he patrons.

III Congrats are in order for Irish actor Bryan Burroughs who has just been awarded a prestigious Stage Award for Acting Excellence. He received the accolade for his Edinburgh debut performance in Beowulf: The Blockbuster at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the largest of its kind in the world.

The award was presented to Burroughs over the weekend at the Pleasance Courtyard venue following his month-long run in the production.

III Culture vultures will be beating a path to the Sugarglass Theatre at TCD this Thursday for the opening of their new production, Five Minutes Later. The brand new show by fresh talent Ellen Flynn will run at the Lir Academy until September 8. It tells the story of four singletons who end up on a night of speeddating.
