Joe Canning will get in the swing with three fellow hurling stars at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Pro-Am.

The Galway legend will join Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald and Limerick midfielder Cian Lynch at the high-profile event on July 3.

The trio are the latest stars to be announced.

All-Ireland champion Clare hurler Shane O'Donnell was one of the first names to be confirmed, along with former Ireland rugby captain Paul O'Connell.

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, the day after the pro-am, is hosted by 2014 Ryder Cup-winning captain Paul McGinley. It will be played for the first time over the spectacular Old Course at Lahinch from July 4-7.

"I'm a big golf fan and although I don't get to play too often, I'm really looking forward to the pro-am," said Canning (inset).

"It's a great, vibrant town, especially in summer. I can't wait to get out there."

The rest of the pro-am line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Open itself has a star-studded field.

Rivals include Tommy Fleetwood, Padraig Harrington, Russell Knox, Shane Lowry, and Graeme McDowell, with further names yet to be revealed.

The European Tour is also giving one Munster primary school the chance to enter a fun trick-shot contest for the chance to win a VIP trip to the tournament.

The winner's school will also get to showcase the trophy for a day.

To enter, parents and teachers are asked to submit a trick shot video via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, name the school and location in post and use tags #DDFIrishOpen and #KidsTrickShot.
