Hunt after man knifed at home

GARDAI are investigating after a man was stabbed in the stomach by an attacker who called to his home.

The incident took place at around 6.30am yesterday in Cluain Airne housing estate in Shannon, Co Clare.

The victim answered a knock at the front door and was confronted by a knife-wielding man who plunged the weapon into his victim's stomach before fleeing.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before rushing him to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. He was due to be released last night. The attacker is described as being between 20 and 25 years of age, 5' 8" to 5' 9" in height. Anyone with information is asked to call gardai on 061 365900.
