Hotel outbreak leaves 38 ill

Health chiefs will meet today to discuss a suspected outbreak of the norovirus bug at a top hotel which left almost 40 people unwell.

Britain's National Health Service launched an investigation after 24 guests and 14 members of staff at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow developed a sudden onset of diarrhoea and vomiting.

Two guests were admitted to Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow yesterday where they were in a stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.

Cancer drive is the mane event

A bone marrow drive for an 11-year-old Lion King star with leukemia turned out to be one of the hottest matinees on Broadway.

Some 385 people in New York registered as bone marrow donors to help Shannon Tavarez beat leukemia. Shannon played the role of Young Nala the lion cub in The Lion King for seven months before she was diagnosed with the life-threatening blood cancer in April.
