IRISH comedienne Aisling Bea was the big winner at the British Comedy Awards last night.
The Trollied star, who studied at Trinity College, Dublin, picked up the gong for best female television comic at the ceremony in London last night.
This morning Aisling (30) was still buzzing from her win.
"Thanks so much for all the lovely shout outs! It wasn't until Lidl came on board as sponsor that so many Irish people could afford to win," she joked.
And Aisling wasn't the only success for Ireland - The Graham Norton Show picked up the award for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme while Chris O'Dowd's Moone Boy was awarded with Best Sitcom.
The Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award went to Brendan O'Carroll for Mrs Brown's Boys and the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Monty Python.
There were further nods to Irish talent with Chris O'Dowd's wife the dress designer of choice for comedienne Nina Conti. Nina wore a 60s style orange mini dress from BOB by Dawn.
Funnyman Jack Whitehall was crowned King of Comedy on the night, Toast of London picked up Best New Comedy Programme while Modern Family were awarded top spot for Best International Comedy Programme.
