A BRAVE householder who disturbed a teenage burglar in his back garden chased him off the property and ran after him into a neighbouring estate, where he helped gardai to find him.
Thomas Connors (18) was later found hiding under a car which was parked on the driveway of a house in Tallaght.
The garda helicopter was also called out to help in the search for the youngster, a court heard.
The Garda Air Support Unit also caught Connors, and three other youths, trespassing on the grounds of Clondalkin Rugby Club.
Connors apologised for his behaviour, saying he was "hanging out with the wrong crowd" at the time.
The defendant, of Rossfield Drive in Tallaght, admitted before Blanchardstown District Court to a number of burglary and trespass offences.
The sergeant said Connors had no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Amanda Connolly said Connors was the eldest of seven and came from a troubled background.
Ms Connolly said there were always others involved in Connors' crimes, and his criminal behaviour was, in part, a reaction to the trouble going on at home.
The judge ordered a probation report. He remanded the defendant in custody and adjourned sentencing for two weeks.
