THIS is one of the garda's super checkpoints for St Patrick's Week - and they pulled in nearly 100 drivers at this one.
The drivers were stopped in one hour at the checkpoint at Ashtown, Dublin West, for speeding, no tax, insurance or NCT and drink driving, as well as heavily tinted windscreens and exhaust decibel levels, seat-belt wearing and mobile-phone usage.
Traffic supremo Garda Asst Commissioner John Twomey (right) called on road users "to take care on the roads this St Patrick's weekend... Don't make this St Patrick's Day one to remember for all the wrong reasons."
Road safety chiefs meanwhile have expressed concern at the rising road death toll and asked motorists to be vigilant over the holiday period.
The super checkpoint was mounted by officers from the Traffic Division at Dublin Castle watched over by AC Twomey and Chief Supt Gabriel McIntyre, Garda HQ.
