Health: €6m private children's clinic gets green light

A NEW independently-owned paediatric clinic has been given the green light by South Dublin County Council.

The west Dublin campus of Hermitage Medical Clinic is to undergo a €6m expansion which will create a new clinic with 18 suites for consultants and ancillary accommodation.

South Dublin County Council has given planning permission to Sean Mulryan and Larry Goodman for the new clinic which is the first of its kind in Ireland.

There is already a 101-room hospital at the site on the Old Lucan Road in Dublin 20 and the company has been in existence for four-and-a-half years.

Chief executive Eamon Fitzgerald said that about 50pc of the population still had health insurance and there was growing demand for health services among a number of groups, including children.
