Happy end as cute puppies find new homes

Four pups found abandoned in a box close to a river have all been rehomed to doting families.

The cute canines were found near the River Barrow at Milford, Co Carlow two weeks ago.

And after a week of monitoring at the Carlow Kilkenny Dog Shelter in Paulstown, Co Kilkenny, the cocker-spaniel crosses were snapped up and given to loving homes.

One of the pups, Buddy, was rehomed with Paul Dolan from Swords, Co Dublin and his two daughters Leona (9) and Sara (17).

"He's brilliant. They love him to bits. I can't believe how clever he is," Paul said.

Buddy's sister Bella is settling in with her new owners Seamus Ryan (60) from Coolgrange, Co Kilkenny and his wife, Ursula, while a brother, little Tayto, is settling in with Helen O'Brien, her son Kevin (18) who christened him, and her daughter Rachel (12).

"He's a typical pup, everything and anything is pulled out, but he's good friends with the cat," Helen joked.
