A MAN was recovering in hospital in Limerick last night after being shot in the face with a shotgun.

The victim (21) was shot near Hyde Road, Ballinacurra Weston, shortly after midnight on Saturday.

It's understood he suffered injuries to his upper body and face from shotgun pellets.

He was recovering at University Hospital Limerick yesterday, where his injuries were described as non-life-threatening. A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting.

A TEENAGER died in a car crash early this morning.

Gardai in Ballybofey, Co Donegal, say the 18-year-old died at the scene of the crash on the Glenfin Road.

Shane Brolly was in a car with two other men and a woman. A woman driver in her 40s was also injured.

All five people were taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where Mr Brolly was later pronounced dead.

STASH away those umbrellas – the sun is due to make a welcome return.

Ireland will receive a small reprieve from the rain with predictions of a mainly dry week, with decent temperatures and light winds.

However, those expecting the heady heights of our recent hot spell will be disappointed.

Temperatures are not expected to move past the high teens in most of the country.

"It will be a decent week with mostly dry weather, but it absolutely won't be a scorcher like we had recently," Gerry Murphy of Met Eireann told the Herald.
