Gun victim close to death

GARDAI have renewed their appeal into a double shooting in Finglas -- with one of the victims close to death at a city hospital today.

The Herald revealed this week how Anthony 'the Mole' McDonagh, right, was clinging to life after his condition worsened following the shooting a fortnight ago.

McDonagh, who was shot five times in the side and chest during the attack, has had his condition upgraded to 'critical' after medical complications in the past few days.

He has also been transferred from James Connolly Memorial Hospital to Beaumont Hospital and is now gravely ill.

Gardai have reissued an appeal for information about the shooting, which saw Tony 'The Mole' and his nephew Kieran McDonagh shot at River Road in Finglas on July 15.

Kieran McDonagh has since been discharged from hospital.

Gardai are specifically interested in speaking with anyone who may have been on River Road, Ratoath Road, or Dunsink Lane that morning.

In particular they would like to speak to anyone who was walking along the River Road or the occupants of cars travelling or parked along the River Road on the day.

Gardai are also anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen two men, believed to be in their 20s, running away from a burning car at Ballyboggan Road that same morning.
