Goods prices up 2pc

THE cost of manufactured goods has jumped by 2pc in a year.

This rise is the lowest recorded in the CSO in its monthly wholesale index price since the start of the year. In January the index recorded an increase of 2.7pc year on year and in April the increase was 2.8pc. High-end manufactured goods and the cost of computer, electronic and optical products were behind the jump.

And despite the downturn construction prices were up 3pc.

The cost of energy has increased by 2.7pc in the last 12 months. Petrol has jumped by 7.1pc but in the last month there has been an easing in costs with fuels falling by 1.5pc from April to May and energy products down by 0.6pc.
