Good news at last ... as insurer seeks workers

A MAJOR job recruitment drive is under way by insurance company Allianz with plans for 128 new jobs in Ireland.

The company is holding its own jobs fair to recruit the employees based at the company's headquarters in Park West, Dublin.

And a further 22 more will service Allianz Worldwide Care's new Brussels office.

The positions will be in a variety of disciplines including finance, marketing, customers service IT. Allianz said that it was particularly looking for individuals with experience in the insurance and financial services sectors.

Claire Cusack, head of human resources at Allianz Worldwide Care, said that there was an urgent requirement to fill the positions as the firm adds 150 employees in total to it payroll.

"We are inviting anyone interested in joining a leading multinational company to come and see us at the Clarion Hotel, IFSC next Thursday, October 13," she said.

"We will be providing details about the positions available and accepting CVs between the hours of 3pm and 9pm."

Applications can also be made online via www.allianzworldwidecare.com.

Earlier this year, the international insurance company created 50 new jobs at its Irish operations.

Allianz is the country's second largest insurer and employs more than 500 at its base in Park West.

The news is a boost for Ireland's unemployment figures which showed a slight dip in September as unemployment rate fell from 14.3pc to 14.2pc.

But analysts are seeing little positivity to take from the figures as they say it is affected by the numbers emigrating and people leaving the job market.

Meanwhile, research found that 25pc of employers anticipate adding to their job numbers over the next three months.

This is the largest number expected to take on staff since employers' willingness to recruit people was first measured in 2009, employers lobby group IBEC said.
