A YOUNG man was allegedly caught with more than €4,500 worth of cannabis herb after his holdall bag was searched by gardai, a court heard.
Eoghan O'Neill (22) was allegedly searched for drugs after a garda saw him smoking a joint. Judge David McHugh adjourned the matter for six weeks to a date in February to allow O'Neill speak to his solicitor.
O'Neill, of Lohunda Drive in Clonsilla, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court accused of having the drug for sale or supply.
The court heard the DPP has directed summary disposal of the matters in the district court on a guilty plea only.
YOUTH SEIZED WITH KNIFE
A TEENAGER caught with a pocket knife after he was searched by gardai claimed he found it, a court heard.
Lee Fitzpatrick (18) was searched after residents called gardai to an estate in Ballybrack where a group of youths were drinking and socialising.
Judge Bridget Reilly ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to a date in March.
The defendant, of Coolevin in Ballybrack, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to possession of a pocket knife.
