Gang top suspects in arson

A SINISTER arson attack has taken place on a house belonging to Steve Collins and it is suspected that the criminal gang who murdered his son carried it out.

Workmen yesterday removed damaged furniture and belongings from the small home along Mulgrave Street in Limerick city.

The front sitting room in the home was extensively damaged.

Investigations are continuing and, while no arrests have yet been made, gardai suspect one of the criminal gang are behind the latest violent incident in the city.

Officers from Henry Street Garda Station are continuing to examine CCTV footage from the Fairview Cottages home in a bid to identify how the building was set ablaze.

The arson attack took place in the early hours of Monday morning and three units of Limerick City Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene shortly after 2am.
