Gang boss ordered 1,500 deaths

A GANGSTER who ordered more than 1,500 killings has received 10 life sentences.

Mexican enforcer Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez pleaded guilty in Texas to 11 counts, including conspiracy, racketeering and murder.

US District Judge Kathleen Cardone sentenced Acosta to seven concurrent life terms, three additional consecutive life terms and 20 years in prison.

Investigators alleged that Acosta headed La Linea, the Juarez cartel's enforcement arm. He admitted in court to ordering over 1,500 killings before he was captured in July with his bodyguard in the Mexican city of Chihuahua.
