Galvin wants unpaid social media intern

Former GAA footballer Paul Galvin is looking for a social media intern for a role that comes with lots of perks - but no pay.

The retired Kerry star left his job in St Brendan's College, Killarney, in 2010 to enrol in a fashion course in Dublin Institute of Technology, and has his own website.

He said on Twitter: "Looking for a social media intern. 3-6 months work. Unpaid, lots of perks and opps [opportunities]."

Galvin is seeking someone who is familiar with Wordpress and has good writing skills as well as being creative in their approach.

The responsibilities will also include research and preparing blog posts and liaising with Galvin and PR companies.

In response to a question from one Twitter follower, Galvin (33) said the role would be part-time, three to four days a week, and he wanted someone based in or near Dublin, though this was not essential.

Earlier this year, Galvin popped the question to his partner, radio DJ Louise Duffy, who works for Today FM. The couple had been dating for three years.

Meanwhile, remarking on Galvin's decision to seek a social media intern, an insider said: "His social media presence has been growing. He has over 78,000 followers on Twitter and over 15,000 on Instagram.

"He has a website, thisispaulgalvin.com, and social media is something that is a channel that he is very active within."

Galvin's website highlights brands he works with.

The intern post will give someone valuable experience in social media, the insider added.
