TWO former Dublin footballers have swapped the boots for the briefcase after being awarded scholarships for the prestigious Dublin City University MBA programme.

Former All-Stars Coman Goggins and Barry Cahill will be signing up for the business administration course alongside Westmeath legend David O'Shaughnessy.

The two-year scholarship is worth €25,000 with the Gaelic Players Association (GPA) picking up the tab for O'Shaughnessy and the costs for the Dublin players split between the GPA and DCU.

Six other county players have been offered a range of different Masters placements.

GPA chief executive Dessie Farrell said the scholarships provide "life-changing opportunities" for the players.

"We are now celebrating the fifth intake under the joint scholarship scheme. I would like to wish all the scholars the very best of luck with their studies," he said.
