A French woman has issued an appeal to find an Irish fan she met during Euro 2016.

The woman, who is named Rita, said she needs to discuss an "important matter" with him - but he "needn't worry".

She posted the message outlining her appeal on popular Irish fans internet forum 'You Boys In Green' (YBIG).

The woman said the only information she has about the Irish fan is his name - which he told her was Cormac.

"I'm trying to contact him about an important matter," she wrote.

She appealed for anyone who has any ideas of how she can contact Cormac to email her. The woman explained that they met at La Place du Change, Lyon - where Ireland played their Round of 16 game against France.

She describes the area as a "square in the old town where Irish fans gathered together on Saturday and Sunday evening during the Euros".

The pair met at around 1am on Monday, June 27, the night after the game.

She explained: "We met while the crowd was singing 'Don't take me home', which they continued to sing for at least 10 minutes. He had lost his friends.

"If this message reaches Cormac, he needn't worry, I just need to touch base with him about something."

The woman contacted YBIG through a third party and asked them to post the message on their forum.

Some 10,000 Irish fans travelled to France for Ireland's final game against Les Bleus, which Ireland lost 2-1.
