Freddie Thompson is expected to touch down in Dublin Airport this afternoon after he is extradited from Amsterdam.

Thompson (33) was arrested in Amsterdam on May 5 on foot of a European arrest warrant issued by gardai. It relates to an incident in a Dublin pub last year in which up to 15 men were involved in a brawl.

Broken bottles were used, and two women were badly injured during the incident in a south inner city public house after the funeral of drug dealer Christopher Warren, (36), who was shot dead at the end of December 2012.

Thompson was arrested in the centre of Amsterdam two weeks ago.

Gardai were contacted immediately and officers travelled over to Holland this week to bring Thompson to Dublin, where he will be brought before the District Court tomorrow morning.

An officer from the gardai’s South Central Divisional Crime Task and Extradition Unit flew into the Netherlands on Monday.

Sources said that Thompson will be met at Dublin Airport by gardai in two fleets of cars before being transferred to a station in the city centre.

Originally from Loreto Road in Dublin’s south inner city, Thompson has spend most of the last six years abroad. He was based between Spain, Holland and the UK.

It is understood that he travelled home at regular intervals.

The last time Thompson returned to Dublin was around Christmas 2012.
