FORMULA 1 greats will soon be burning rubber on the streets of Dublin.
Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton are among the big names expected to race here when the Bavaria City Racing comes to town.
Fernando Alonso, Vitaly Petrov, David Coulthard, Nelson Piquet Jr, Heikki Kovalainen and Adrian Sutil all took part in previous events and are looking forward to ripping through O'Connell Street next June Bank Holiday weekend.
Speaking to the Herald at the same event in Rotterdam at the weekend, Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan said Irish spectators could look forward to something special. "This is not a race, this is a party," he said, adding: "No one knows how to party like the Irish."
And 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton said that while he was "not a big partier" his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls would show the Irish how to party.
Crowds of 150,000 are expected for the June 3 race when race cars will follow a track via the Convention Centre, to Custom House Quay, travelling across Butt Bridge and on to D'Olier Street, around College Green, passing Trinity College turning in front of Central Bank then on to Westmoreland Street and O'Connell Bridge before travelling back along the quays to the main paddock at the Conference Centre.
