A SHAKE-up of the RTE schedule will see former Westlife star Nicky Byrne fronting a new Saturday night game show.
The 2fm presenter is understood to have already done a number of screen tests for the role.
Winning Streak will be moved to a summer schedule to make way for the new National Lottery game show.
The new licence holders of the National Lottery are reported to have wanted the 2fm presenter for the new show.
A spokesperson for RTE confirmed that the new show would be launched in January.
However, she said that reports of Winning Streak being revamped were wide of the mark and that current hosts Marty Whelan and Sinead Kennedy would remain involved when it returns.
"RTE and National Lottery will have an exciting new gameshow in January and the new presenter will be announced soon," she said.
"We look forward to Winning Streak and Marty and Sinead returning later in 2015," she added.
Winning Streak has been a major part of the RTE winter schedule and is usually replaced by another game show as part of the summer schedule.
The new show will run on a similar format, and run once a week with contestants being drawn from winning scratch card entries.
Byrne is reported to have beaten off stiff competition from Neil Delamere and Angela Scanlon to land the gig.
