For sale: One school with pupils full
of mischief

A SKERRIES school has been advertised as being for sale’ on the popular DoneDeal website in what is being viewed as a schoolboy prank.

The ad, complete with a picture of the exterior of the school and snaps of a classroom, pupils and a PE teacher, was placed on the site as being for sale for €2.5m. It has been viewed by almost 1,500 people.

But clues to the fact that a young person with a streak of mischief uploaded the ad can be found in some of the spelling used.

It describes the property as being a “large 25,000 sq ft building over two stories (sic) at present housing a secondary school”.

It adds that the school is equipped with “WiFi, staff facilitys (sic) and a large reception area” and is in a quiet area off Balbriggan Street in the coastal town of Skerries.

Whoever put the ad online had probably hoped the school principal would be inundated with calls about it because the details include the name of the head as well as the phone number of the school.

But the prank was a damp squib, with a school spokesman reporting they only got one call from the public about it.

“It has been a bit of a talking point around Skerries, with different people saying to us that the school was put up on the site,” a staff member told the

“But everyone knows it is a prank.”
