Football coach in 'sneaky' burglaries

A FOOTBALL coach was confronted as he burgled an office and locked in by an employee until gardai arrived.

Jason Cosgrove (38) admitted the incident, as well as two other "sneaky" burglaries in Dublin city centre.

Judge Bryan Smyth gave him a one-year suspended sentence at Dublin District Court.

Cosgrove, of Glin Road, Coolock, was found upstairs in an office at Merrion Square North last April 7.

An employee challenged him and locked him in until the gardai arrived.

A stolen iPhone was returned. He took a €600 iPad and €1,400 laptop in two separate thefts.

Cosgrove had become depressed after a relationship break-up and committed the offences to fund a drug habit.
