FIVE men have been hospitalised after their car ploughed into a barrier this morning.
None of the injuries were said to be life-threatening.
The crash occurred at approximately 5.40am on the N11 southbound in Wicklow.
The men were travelling through the Glen of the Downs area when their vehicle collided with a barrier.
The road was closed following the incident and traffic was diverted.
Gardai and the local fire brigade were called to the scene. All five occupants suffered minor injuries in the incident, and were taken to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin.
The road was reopened following the incident at 7.10am.
The area in which the crash occurred does not contain street lighting and is considered a nature reserve.
Councillor Jimmy O'Shaughnessy claimed that up to 30,000 vehicles travel on to N11 towards Dublin every day. He said there had been 27 fatalities, and accidents happen in the area "almost every day".
