Firm failures up again

COMPANY failures in Ireland jumped for the fifth year in a row in 2012 but there are signs of an overall return to stability.

A total of 1,684 businesses collapsed during the year, according to figures compiled by Kavanagh Fennell's insolvency journal website.

A notable feature was the dramatic increase in corporate receiverships -- 40pc up on the previous year and 77pc ahead of 2010.
