'Fingers' fails to return watch

DISGRACED Irish Nationwide chief Michael Fingleton's retirement watch amounted to €11,500 it has been revealed.

Bank executives have not received any response to their request to return the 2009 gift, along with the €1m bonus he had already promised to return.

Anglo chief Mike Aynsley said the bank was awaiting a response from Mr Fingleton, but that management "won't be infinitely patient". Nationwide paid €9,650 to the taxman so Mr Fingleton (above) wouldn't have to stump up for 'benefit-in-kind' taxes for the watch.

It's understood that Anglo Irish Bank, which has taken control of the building society, is investigating a number of "discrepancies" in Mr Fingleton's expenses.
