Fingerprint linked man to damaged school door

A MAN was linked to a damaged school door after gardai lifted his fingerprint from the scene, a court heard.

Brian Clarke (27) caused €200 worth of damage.

Judge Dermot Dempsey imposed a six-month sentence but suspended it for two years.

The defendant, of Applewood Mews in Swords, admitted before Swords District Court to damaging a back door at Swords Educate Together National School on August 28, 2013.

Garda Stephen Harte said Clarke forced open the back door, and his fingerprints were found at the scene.

Solicitor Fiona D'Arcy said Clarke doesn't remember the incident, as he was homeless and unwell at the time.

Ms D'arcy said Clarke is now clean of drugs and hoping to make a fresh start in life.
