Soccer star Stephanie Roche doesn't think the extent of her FIFA Puskas award achievement will hit her until she is walking on the red carpet beside Ronaldo.
Battling it out against James Rodriguez and Robin van Persie would intimidate many people, but the cool-headed 25-year-old Dubliner (inset) said she has been too busy to get nervous ahead of Monday's award in Zurich.
"It hasn't really fazed me just yet. I'm not sure when it is going to hit me. Maybe when I'm on the red carpet with Ronaldo I'll be like 'aaah'," she said.
"The nerves are okay. I haven't had a lot of time to think about it because I've been so busy the last few days just trying to get as many votes as possible."
Stephanie's cracking goal against Wexford Youths when she played for Peamount United has earned worldwide fame.
Katie Taylor and One Direction's Niall Horan are among those who chipped in to congratulate her.
"It's going to go one way or the other. I'm not really thinking that far ahead. I think I'll just take it as it comes," said Stephanie.
Meanwhile, the manager at her French club, Albi, spoke recently about her decision to leave the side, citing homesickness as one of the reasons.
Stephanie said: "It wasn't really homesickness, it was more the language barrier I talked about the whole time I was in France."
