Fears growing for missing girl (14)

Garda concerns are growing for a teen Romanian girl who went missing over the weekend.

Marinella Plesca (14) was last seen at her home in Cedar Park, Leixlip, at about 7pm on Friday.

She is described as being 5ft 3in tall, with very long straight black hair, dark eyes and with a heavy build.

She was wearing a black jacket and black jeans. Gardai and her family are concerned for the girl's welfare.

Anyone with information is asked to contact gardai in Leixlip on 01-666 7800, the garda confidential line on 1800 666111 or any garda station.

Another Romanian teenager, Marioara Rostas, vanished in Dublin in January of 2008. Speculation has mounted that the Gypsy teenager was killed, but gardai say they have no evidence to support this.

Ms Rostas was last seen around Pearse Street or Brabrazon Street in the south inner city on January 6 or 7, 2008.

The teenager, who was illiterate and had barely a word of English, is believed to have been lured away by an opportunistic sexual predator while begging on a Dublin street two years ago.

A silver Ford Mondeo with a registration number beginning 01 LH may hold the key to her disappearance.

Two callers told gardai in June and September 2008 they had heard reports of what had happened to the missing teenager.

Garda Detective Superintendent Gabriel O'Hara last year urged them to get in touch with gardai again or Crimestoppers.

"Somebody knows what happens to Marioara and I am appealing to those people," he said.

"We have a lot of missing people in Ireland but the trauma for the family, who have now gone home to Romania, is great."
