Fear for missing cruise worker

Family members of a 24-year-old British employee reported missing from a Disney cruise ship last week met with investigators after the vessel returned to its home port in Los Angeles.

Rebecca Coriam, whose hometown is Chester, England, was reported missing at sea on Tuesday after she failed to report for a shift on the Disney Wonder. Her mother, Ann Coriam, said: "We just don't know what happened to her, do we? And that's just the worst."

It was not immediately clear what new information, if any, investigators gave the family.

Super Glue inventor dies

Harry Wesley Coover Jr, known as the inventor of Super Glue, has died aged 94.

Coover was working for Tennessee Eastman Company, a division of Eastman Kodak, when an accident helped lead to the adhesive being discovered, according to his grandson. An assistant was distressed that some brand new refractometer prisms were ruined when they were glued together by the substance.

Mr Coover died on Saturday at his home in Kingsport, Tennessee, his grandson said.

Killer landlady dies in prison

A US woman who was convicted of killing her elderly tenants and burying them in her backyard has died in prison.

State Department of Corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton said Dorothea Puente (82) died of natural causes at the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla. Authorities said Puente drugged her elderly tenants and stole their money.

She escaped to Los Angeles while investigators were unearthing bodies at her Sacramento home in 1988, but was caught a few days later.

Two drown in sailboat sinking

A sailboat with 10 people aboard capsized and sank in San Diego Bay, leaving two men drowned and eight people injured, authorities said.

The boat flipped over yesterday, for reasons that remained unclear, near Shelter Island, sending all passengers into the water, San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque said.
