Father of five 'had a pickaxe'

A FATHER of five accused of producing a pickaxe in a Traveller dispute has been ordered to stay away from a family.

Patrick Stokes (35) has been ordered by a court to stay away from Michael Stokes and his four sons.

Judge Anthony Halpin remanded Stokes on bail and adjourned the matter for four weeks for DPP's directions.

The defendant, of Oldcastle Park Lawns in Clondalkin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with possession of a pickaxe intended to cause injury, incapacitate or intimidate at Nangor Road in Clondalkin on May 31, 2012.

It is alleged that Stokes is involved in a feud with another Traveller family.

Trial on heroin stash claims

A MAN allegedly found with a stash of heroin following a garda raid of his home has been sent for for trial.

David Martin (44) appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with possession of heroin as well as having the drug for sale or supply at Finn Eber Fort in Finglas on November 15 last year.

A State solicitor said the book of evidence was ready and had been served.

British sailor missing in Dubai

THE wife of a British sailor missing in Dubai today said that he wants to be found.

Leading Seaman Timothy Andrew MacColl (27), was a member of the crew of HMS Westminster, which arrived in Dubai on May 26 before setting sail again last Thursday.

His family said the father of two, whose wife is expecting their third child, was last seen by a shipmate getting into a taxi at about 2am on May 27.

His wife Rachael said: "I wouldn't say he's disappeared. He's missing, my husband wants to be found."

'Mr Trololo' singer (77) dies

RUSSIAN crooner Eduard Khil, who gained international stardom in 2010 when his 1976 video of a song known as Trololo became a global internet hit, has died. He was 77.

The singer, better known internationally as Mr Trololo, died in a St Petersburg hospital last night. The cause of death was not immediately reported, but he had suffered a stroke in early April and has been in hospital ever since.
